I bought a new camera yesterday. We stopped by the camera shop after our anniversary lunch and picked up a Nikon D80. I am totally excited about this new toy. It does not replace my sewing/embroidery machine, but comes close right now as I am filled with all those initial joys of having something new to learn and explore. I got alot of help from a wonderful photographer and clothing designer, Erica. I mentioned her before. I have always loved her design style and her natural, real photography. She has a way of just capturing those true, everyday moments and just keeps the images pure and sweet. Do you know what I mean? Have a look at her blog and you'll get it.
Anyway, I totally diverged! I always get into going on and on about inspirational people. Pardon me.
Back to the camera. I bought this autofocus lense that Erica suggested and put that on the camera and clicked the button. Then nothing happened. I'd forgotten to put the memory card in. My old camera would have taken a pic and put it on the internal memory. I guess this camera does not have internal memory!lol
So I put the memory card in then clicked the button again, and got the picture shown below. The picture is unedited. Just what I got by clicking the button and uploaded to flickr. Talk about easy. My kind of camera. Now there is more to this camera. I am sure of it. I have just not figured it all out yet! I am sure there are some real photography folks out there laughing at me. But this is just what I needed. Instant gratification without alot of post fussing around.
I do hope to expand my knowledge and use of this baby. I do expect to play around with the manual settings. And I am sure things will be a little different when trying to photograph moving objects, like my kids. But for now, I will just keep pointing and clicking for a bit. If you are into checking out pics, do be sure to stop by my flickr photostream every once in a while, as I'll be documenting my learning there. And looking for tips, suggestions for improvement as well.
Off to play a bit more....Hope your day is filled with sweetness and (unlike mine) sunshine!
