Today, I spent quite some time in my sewing room! It has been the first time I have had several HOURS alone to work on sewing projects and such. I feel so happy! It feels so good to be back in there, hearing the buzz of the machines. And not having someone calling Mommy every few minutes. I did alot of cutting. I love to just cut up a bunch of stuff at once, so that when I sit to sew, I can just sew. I like to work on alot of things at one time, as you may have noticed from reading my blog!lol I have never been a one project at a time sewer. Every since I first started sewing ages ago I always had several projects in the works at the same time. Not sure why. I do like the thrill of finishing up a bunch of stuff at the same time though. Maybe that is part of it? I do also often get distracted easily by other fabrics and ideas and have to start in on them right away. Am I the only one that works like this? Anyway, felt good. I am looking forward to sneaking back down there tonight for a bit after the kids are in the bed. Here are some pics of what I am working on and working with.
My plan is to have a bunch of ready to ship sets in the shop once I finally open the new online boutique. I ran into some snags with my online shop--we are now switching hosts and the site will hopefully be ready in another couple weeks. I am so excited to share it with you all. I hope things run smoothy--wish me luck!
Over the weekend, we celebrated my husband's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE!)! We stayed overnight in a castle along the Mosel River--gosh, what a beautiful area. His wish was to go out for a 3hour bike ride. He is an avid road cycler. And that is one of the joys for him being back in Germany again--road cycling is huge here! He got a new bike which he is so excited with. It is red, so I dig it too. He was in heaven, riding for 3 hours through the mountains. His average speed was 37miles per hour--he was so proud! He goes out for rides most weekends, when we are home, but usually only for 1 hour and it is flat here, so no mountains for him. He is a mountain boy! So he was happy with his ride. Then we enjoyed a great day at an old Castle close by. I uploaded some pictures on my flickr set, so feel free to stop over and have a peek. Here is a view of the castle. So pretty.
We had lunch at a volcanic lake area, visited a very old church (we love churches) and bought flowers at the church flower festival. A monk was working the cash register. So awesome! And just as we were leaving, they were starting the church service, so we got to see all the monks enter and start singing/chanting--what an amazing sound--so humble and so beautiful. It was a great birthday weekend.
I have been swamped with orders from the fabric shop on Etsy. Goodness, I did not expect this. But it has been so fun shipping off these packages all over the world. I am a bit tired of running to the post office though. So I am going to hold off on updating the shop for just a few days, so I can spend my time sewing. :) But I want to thank all of you that have sent such sweet emails cheering me on! And for all of you that ordered from the shop. I hope to feature some of the items people create with the fabrics they buy from the shop, so please send me pictures/links peeps. I'd love to see all your fabulous creations!
I did mangage to list and sell some fall items on ebay, too. It had been a while since I had listed--it felt so strange to be filling in the html and all. But this, this and this sold and then I have this and this still running. I have more things I'll be putting up over there over the next couple weeks until I get the website finished up.
I need to run now. Hope you all are happy and doing well!
Be good to yourselves,
