The next thing I wanted to share with you all today is this lovely new blog started by my buddy Penny! Penny has decided to pull together all us Flea Market Fancy loving folks together to sign a petition of sorts to try to get Denyse Schmidt and the folks at Free Spirit Fabrics to reprint Flea Market Fancy. Wouldn't that be fun?!! I still have a nice little stash, but would certainly not be against adding too it...yes, I am a fabric hoarder, but I only hoard the gorgeous stuff! ;) Anyway, stop on by Penny's new blog and see what she has in store there. She has a button that we can add to our side bars too, but I am the queen of "can't figure out how to add the sidebars again", so be patient with me as I try to get mine up! Penny has some fun things in store for this blog, so do go over and visit and join in on the fun!
I also wanted to share a bit of exciting news with you! Guess who has a little corner all to herself in a local shop. Yes, Me! Can we all jump up and down together while holding hands on this one? Seriously...I am just giddy! Seriously!!! I'll actually be working at the shop one morning a week as well. Yes, I will! Out of the house...in a shop..surrounding by lovely things. I'll be heading over tomorrow to start setting my little area and learning how the ropes. I'll be selling my handmade goods in the shop, as well as my vintage buttons, patterns, fabric, etc.. All the things I have been too lazy to photograph and get up on the website. Yes, I have complained about this before...it takes so much time to get the things up on the website, so this will be a great second outlet for me. Plus people get to see my work face to face! I was in the shop today with some of my items, testing out the shelves, making sure they were deep enough, etc. And a customer came in and immediately oohed over them. I was blushing of course. I was too dorky to say, hey, I made those. So the shop owner did instead. She is excited to have my things in her shop and I am excited to be working with her!! Win, win, I tell ya...atleast I am hoping! I have to decide what to put there and what to hold for Quilt Festival (which is like around the corner...hello!). I'll take my camera tomorrow and try to snap some before pictures though. I'll start sharing some pictures of lots of new things I've made too. I've been a bit quiet with all that these last few months. I don't know why..mostly I just don't feel like snapping pictures and uploading them. Can I say I have gotten a wee bit burned out on the picture taking. More on all this in a later post though!
So, yes, I mentioned being burned out on taking pictures. But I did snap these pictures over the last couple weeks!lol Couldn't resist! I have been slacking a bit on documenting our everyday lives, so trying to get my self in gear again.
We almost missed the English cucumber. It was hidden under some massive leaves. It was still delicious. It made its way into the salad below, along with some green and yellow peppers, also from our garden.
The cantaloupe have spread out of the garden patch and across the grass. I had no idea they take up so much space! They have inspired me to expand the garden for sure!
Harvested yesterday....Okra, a green pepper, 3 cantaloupe and a melon.
Images from our organic veggie garden (it is still growing strong...it has been a hot and dry summer, so I am surprised that it survived honestly!).
Images from my kitchen...I made the first batches of jams/preserves last weekend.
Homemade Strawberry and Bluebeery Jam
We have already devoured a couple jars. And we're looking forward to making more this weekend! Plum, kiwi and cherry are next on the list.
And some pics of things I made for Leah for back to school.
I'll share pictures of her wearing these in another post. :)
So yes, the kids started school on Monday. It has been sooo quiet in the house during the day time. When I came home after dropping them off on Monday, it hit mit that for the first time since back in June I was alone in the house. Felt GREAT! But I did miss them. We are enjoying our bike rides back and forth to school together. Lucas got a huge new green bike which loves and is so proud of! He started Kindergarten! And Leah is in 3rd grade now. It is great to have them at the same school on the same schedule, I have to say. And it's also nice to no longer have to pay for preschool tuition!lol
Here are some pictures of them....
This morning, just before heading to school. It was spirit day at school and I made these tees and Leah's skirt for them. Their school has a camouflage theme this year...for Operation Education. I actually made outfits for a bunch of the kids at the school, for the first grade teachers and made some tees for the crossing guards as well. It was fun seeing people at the school wearing my creations this week! Oh, and yes, Leah is wearing black long boots and it was close to 100 degrees today. She is already a fashionista!lol
The two pictures abover were taken on the first day of school (Monday), after we got home. I am not sure what Leah's little pose was about...they crack me up! Little cuties!
They are my world. Them and their cutie pie dad!
Happy Birthday cutie!!
We celebrated his birthday this week also! We had a simple dinner at home and ice cream cake for dessert. Our gift to him this year was a digital picture frame for his office. I visited him in his office recently and realized he does not have many up to date pictures of us on his desk. The main reason is because I pretty much stopped printing out pictures since we started using digital cameras (that's really the downside of digital! Am I the only that's is horrible at actually printing out the pictures!?). I realized a digital picture frame would be a great way for him to update the pictures on his desk, and to keep the desk from being cluttered with picture frames (he has about 20 on his desk right now!lol).
I plan to surprise him with a night out without kids in a couple weeks. We have only been out just the 2 of us once since we moved here. We had a couple of work dinners which were sans kids. But only one just the 2 of us date. So pathetic and we so have to work on getting out, just the 2 of us more!!! We need to have a date night comeback this Fall/Winter for sure!!
Okay, that is enough blabbing on from me today! What have you all been up to these days? Those with kids, have they started back at school yet? I hope you all have been behaving and making something lovely!!
I'll be back soon with the Harmony Art fabric giveaways! I may be back with something else before then..we'll see.
Happy Weekend Folks!
