Hello My Friends,
I am back today to announce the winner of the last giveaway, to share some more quilting fun and I have a new giveaway for you sweet peeps. Let's get to them all in that order. Yes, I am making you read a ridiculously long post before getting to the giveaway!
I used the random number generator to pick the winner of the last giveaway.
Random Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers:
38
Timestamp: 2010-07-19 13:06:06 UTC
Comment number 38 come in from Jennifer. Congrats!! You've won the box of Amy Butler scraps and pattern. From the looks of your fab Etsy shop, I am sure you'll put these scraps to great us! I can't wait to see what you make....please get in touch with your information so I can get this box on its way to you!!
Now for more quilting fun.
I managed to finish up the 2 quilts and 2 pillows that I started last week using the New Liberty Arts Fabrics. The piecing is very simple on all these items but the free motion quilting I did really takes them to a whole different level, I think. I am so loving the one-of-a-kind, improvisational, just go for it feeling you get with pattern-free free motion quilting! I have so many tops sitting around because I really dreaded the quilting. No more! I am so inspired and can't believe I did not try this sooner!! I think this will be my summer to get all my quilt tops quilted and bound!! Anyway, on to last weeks projects.
I call this one English Garden Strip Patchwork Quilt and it is available.
Up Close look at my free motion quilting...so fun!
Here is the coordinating quilted pillow cover.
The second quilt I made I am calling English Garden Log Cabin Patchwork Quilt:
I love the simple but colorful back.
It also is densely free motion quilted.
And here is the coordination Log Cabin quilted pillow cover.
I will make a few more items to coordinate with these 4 projects...as I am really enjoying working with these fabrics!!
Now let's get to what you all are probably most interested in....the giveaway. One lucky reader will receive this bundle of goodies shown below. The magazine is courtesy of the folks from American Patchwork and Quilting (thank you!). And the scraps are from me. The magazine is filled with images of authentic vintage/antique quilts and then are shown reworked with today's fabrics to show them in a more modern light. Full sized templates and directions to make all the quilts are included. It really is a lovely magazine. I think even if you never make anything from the magazine (though I hope you will and that you'll share pictures with us!), I think it is just great to look at all the antique quilts. They are so lovely!
If you are interested in having a chance to win this bundle of goods, just leave a comment on this post telling me "What is your favorite thing to do this time of year?". I know for me, it is definitely being outside in the garden as much as possible. Since it is hot as all get out here in Texas, that means early morning and late evening, as during the middle of the day, it is just too hot. I was out weeding yesterday at around 11:30 am and I think I sweated out about 4 liters of water...seriously! Crazy enough, I just found out on Friday that I have a severe Vitamin D deficiency! Can you imagine. Those of you that get my newsletter will remember I mentioned that I fell ill after returning from out vacation in Sicily. Well, after lots of test and exams, bloodwork revealed I Vitamin D deficient and slightly anemic and that this was why I was and still sort of am feeling slloooowwww and tired quite a bit! So now with some supplements, I hope to get back up to my normal speed!
Anyway, I just had to share one image of the kids...while I was weeding, the kids were doing this:
To be a kid again!
All right then. I must get going with my work for today. The kids are still snoozing and so I hope to get in a bit of quiet time in the studio before the little cuties are up. I'll check back in later in the week with more sewing projects to show you...here is a sneak peek of what I started in on:
Oh and I almost for got...I should mention that I will be listing some fabric bundles featuring Urban Chik's Sweet collection and the final bits of the Arcadia fabrics later today...I'll put some in my Etsy shop and some on the website. If you are on the mailing list and want to use your coupon (which expires today) on your orders from my ETsy shop, just put in the code in the comments at checkout and I'll have to issue the discount as a refund, as Etsy does not take coupon codes.
Well, have a great day, folks!!
Hugs,
Sheree

What a lovely book and scrap collection! Thanks for your generosity. Summer - ah. I love to take the kids on a bike ride to the bakery or the ice cream shop (depending on the time of day - no ice cream before noon, but sugar cookies are a-ok for the AM!). We also love to go hang out at a local park with a lake and sand beach.

My answer is the same as yours! I also love to garden. It's been hot here lately and dry so I haven't been enjoying it as much as usual but it is still a top summer activity for me! Thank you for the giveaway. Your new quilts and pillows are lovely!

During the summer I love watching Wimbledom, drinking gallons of sweet iced tea and curling up and reading every time one of Houston's summer storms hits!

I love doing whatever the family is doing. Summer is a time when we have a bit more time together.

Hello Sheree!
I always enjoy reading your posts. Someday we will be able to just speak to our computer and it will update our blog for us, won't that be sweet. LOL!
It is odd for you to be suffering from a D deficiency out there in sunny Texas. I too, have that problem but I am way up in the north. I also developed anemia last year which really threw me for a loop because I have always had great iron levels.
Since summer is so short here I just love to sit outside and listen to the birds chirp and the wind rustling though the leaves on the tress. I take the kids to the lake almost every week and let the sand squish between my toes.
I would LOVE to freshen up my fabric collection with this giveaway. I love the colors and prints. Thank you again for your generosity.

Love the quilts and pillows, great colours! I love going to the local farmers' market with my boyfriend during the summer time. We usually get a late lunch at the market with fresh lemonade and eat them on the picnic table (usually shared with other people), and then buying some fresh produce to take home. Thanks for the giveaway!

You should have been in the pool having fun with the kids, but I guess the weeding has to be done some time. It's winter here, so my favourite thing to do is make lots of quilts, stay warm and start plannig my spring vege garden.

Eat ice cream! Sewing is great too, but it doesn't cool you down like ice cream does!
