Hello Friends!
I hope you all have enjoyed a fabulous summer. We sure have! It has flown by and I am sort of sad that we only have a couple more weeks before the kids head back to school. We have had family visiting from overseas, taken some great trips, visited my new twin baby neice and nephew and spend alot of time just having fun!
My kids joined a local 4H group close to the end of the school year and spend a fair amount of time this summer getting entries ready for the Midland County Fair, which started on Monday. Last weekend was spend standing in lines, submitting items for judging and then putting them in our group booth. What a wonderful experience this was for the kids and I tell you, I enjoyed every minute as well. I never participated in 4H or any fairs/competitions. We are all hooked and are already planning for next year!
Here is an image of our Group Booth: The Stars of 4H!
And here are images of my little makers with some of their entries.
Leah received a blue ribbon and a special purple ribbon for outstanding work for your fabric wall art entry. She made this in my Artistic Stitches Camp several weeks ago.
Leah received a blue ribbon for her DANCE bag that she made. She will be taking 4 different dance classes (ballet, jazz, lyrical and tap) this school year, so this bag will get alot of use!
Lucas received a blue ribbon for this pillow he made. It is his favorite. It has been so many places with him. The judges were quite impressed with his sewing skills.
Lucas's splash art fish received both a blue ribbon and a purple ribbon for outstanding work!
Leah received a blue ribbon for her applique pillow cover.
Lucas received blue ribbons for these two tote bags that he made. One is for his DS and the other is for his library books. My kids had a ton of entries. You can see the rest on my facebook page.
I am so proud of these two and excited to see first hand how many kids (families really!) participate in 4H and the fair. I so enjoyed fostering a creative spirit in my kiddos!
Do you or have you ever participated in 4H and/or your local county and state fairs? What was the experience like? I always thought 4H was just for animals and agriculture. I was so surprised to find a craft group and am wondering if any of you participate in craft oriented 4H groups?
Well, that is enough for today. Also always, I have so much I want to share, but just not the time to get it all posted in a timely manner (sigh). But it is what it is, right?
Okay folks. I wish you all a super blessed and creative day. Until next time....
Hugs,
Sheree

Congratulations to your talented children! I still have my 4-H ribbons stashed somewhere.

What wonderful kids! That they share your love of creating is a joy to see. Great work, Lucas and Leah!
