Hello There!
I wanted to share a little wrap up of our summer with you all. It was full of fun and surprises and absolutely wonderful weather here all summer long in Michigan!
I already shared our 4H adventure. And I shared alot of my teaching adventures as well. You can see more of my students projects on my facebook page. I still have more images to add to the album, but there are lots to see now.
We took some great trips this summer, exploring Michigan. My inlaws came over from Germany for a 2 and a half week visit. We did some local things together and also ventured off to visit some other parts of Michigan. We had a great time at Muskegon Lake.
I mentioned before that my mother in law is a musician. She played a little mini concert at a local church and my kids had a chance to play along with her. Here is Lucas playing organ with her.
And here is Leah accompanying her on flute.
We also enjoyed some fun times at Boyne Mountain Resort.
They kids spent most of the summer hanging out with me at the shop when I was not teaching. They took a couple of my camps and they enjoyed some other camps as well, including a week of Theatre Camp, a week of Golf Camp. Of course they enjoyed hanging out with their friends a lot as well.We met up with some friends from Texas for a weekend at Niagra Falls in Canada.
We visited my baby sis in North Carolina. She and her husband had twins (one boy and one girl!) in February and we finally got to meet them face to face. Boy, it was soooo hard not to sneak them out and bring them back home with us.
Lucas is happy to no longer be my mom's only grandson! He has 6 girl cousins and now 1 boy cousin on my side of the family. :)
Leah is beyond delighted to have new cousins! She is probably the only person I know that loves babies more than I do!
We made it to the Motown Museum and a Tigers Game for my hubby's birthday bash.
It was a close game for a while, but the Tigers managed to win and the evening ended with a spectacular fireworks show.
On Labor Day, we ran a 5K together. It was the first for the kiddos and me. We are excited to sign up for another one soon.
The kids started school the day after Labor Day.
Lucas just turned 9 a couple days ago and he started 4th grade this year.
And my Leah is 11 and started 6th grade.
They are off to a great start this school year! We have an even busier year ahead. Leah is taking 4 dance classes per week along with weekly flute and piano lessons. She is attending a Science and Arts Academy and is concentrating in Visual Arts. She is working so hard, as it is a demanding program. I am so inspired by this girl of mine. Lucas is still my math whiz and is continuing to love school and learning. He is taking hiphop dance again this year and is continuing to excel in piano and now the double bass! He is also playing tennis and is really enjoying it.
I am running around alot, as usual. My husband and I celebrated 14 years of marriage this summer. We both can't believe our baby is 9 and are really enjoying parenting both kids together. It is always a bit hard for us, living with no family close by. We have to really work well together as partners as we really have noone else to help out. And though it is mightly hard and stressful sometimes keeping our schedule sane and balanced, we are managing well. I continue to really be concious of my time away from home and making sure that family does always come first. It is important for us all, especially when there is not that family network/support close by. So I am happy with how I am managing my work/life balance for sure. I know my barometer is the family happiness and so far it is really working out nicely, I have to say! I get to play with fabric all day and then lock up the shop and head off to run the kids around, cook a square meal and then help with homework. I don't have much time to get to space, unfortunately. I do miss blogging, writing, sharing. I think I need to set up some routines that will allow me to consistently carve out time to get to this space. I'll have to think on it. In the meantime, know that I wish I were here with you all more.
Until next time, be safe and happy! And take some time to be creative!
Hugs,
Sheree
